Productivity, Efficiency

Time Management and Quality: a key at ARENA

At ARENA, we focus on time management and quality to carry out our work productively and efficiently, using management tools and tips that help us organize and prioritize tasks.

Responsibility for a job well done, the quality of our deliverables, and consequently, the trust placed in our team members and their work, are part of our DNA.

In this CreArena post, we’ll discuss the importance of time management and quality, what techniques we can use, and how we implement them.

What is time management?

When we talk about time management, we’re referring to how we plan, organize, and use our time to be more productive and efficient.

However, when we talk about quality time, we’re not so much referring to the time we spend working, but rather to the efficiency of the time we use. In other words, how we use our time each day to focus on certain tasks that improve not only our productivity but also our well-being in the workplace.

How can we be more efficient?

In the daily work routine, it’s important to know how to organize and manage time. To do this, we have several techniques that can be useful in our work:

• Eisenhower Matrix: This matrix helps prioritize what is urgent from what is important using a quadrant system, allowing you to place tasks in different sections to give them the necessary importance.

• Getting Things Done (GTD) Method: This method, developed by David Allen, aims to gather all tasks, organize them, and review them regularly to maintain control over them. Having tasks recorded in a tool helps free our minds by preventing us from forgetting what we need to do. It also helps us track our progress (especially if we’ve delegated a specific task) and allows us to stay organized at all times. Internally, we use tools like JIRA for managing and organizing tasks by project and team, and we also work with the Outlook calendar or tools like To Do.

• Time-blocking methods: This method focuses on distributing time into blocks and specific tasks. By allocating time to specific tasks, distractions and interruptions are minimized. For this, it’s helpful to use tools like the Outlook calendar or a planner that visually helps us divide our time.

• Taking breaks: This is necessary and important. Taking regular breaks throughout the day helps prevent burnout, clears the mind, and energizes us to stay focused on the task at hand.

• A good work environment: This also helps us be more productive. Good lighting, a suitable workspace, and, above all, helpful ideas and supportive colleagues all contribute to a better quality of time.

Digital disconnection: a necessary reality

As a consequence of the importance of quality time, it’s worth highlighting the importance of digital disconnection. At ARENA, it’s very important that our team members can disconnect once the workday is over. Therefore, we ensure a proper digital disconnection by avoiding meetings, calls, or emails outside of working hours.

Furthermore, one of our benefits as ARENA employees is that we get our birthday off. This allows us to disconnect and rest, focus on ourselves, and recharge so we can continue giving our best.
